Thu May 14 10:02:09 EDT 2009

Dear friends:

We're only a day away from the The Sixth Annual Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film
Festival (BHFF(tm)), taking place on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at
Tribeca Cinemas (54 Varick Street in NYC).

We have a few exciting updates:
* On May 15 at 6:50 p.m., Ambassador Ivan Barbalic, the Permanent
Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations, will open
the festival
* Two of the filmmakers whose films will be showcased at BHFF will make an
appearance - Igor Borovac ("Turn Back South") and Namik Kabil ("Believers"
and "Nightguards")
* Namik will do an audience Q&A following the last screening on Saturday
* There will also be an awards ceremony announcing the winners of this
year's audience awards
* We will top off the evening with a happening party featuring DJ Tomo
Polic (Croatia/Germany) - don't forget your dance shoes!

Tickets are still on sale and will be available online at
http://www.bhffnyc.org/html/program2009.htm [1] for all screenings until
4:00
pm, May 15. Remaining tickets can be purchased at Tribeca Cinemas
immediately before each screening on a first-come, first-serve basis.

As a reminder, BHFF will screen 13 films, which showcase the diversity of
the Bosnian diaspora and its filmmakers, whose submissions come from Bosnia
and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Switzerland, Australia and United
States. The selection of films includes eight U.S. premieres. A number of
films have been praised at other film festivals around the globe. Amongst
films screened will be "It's Hard to Be Nice," Bosnia and Herzegovina's
official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film Category of the 80th
Annual Academy Awards, and "Tolerantia," the first independent short film
from Bosnia and Herzegovina made using 3D animation.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Cheers,

BHFF team
